Today's soundtrack is Chaos Moon: Eschaton Mémoire.
This afternoon, I'm reading the next chapter of Exploring the Deep Frontier: The Adventure of Man in the Sea, "The Lure of the Sea."
There are many things that can motivate a person to dive, necessity or curiosity encompassing most of these. Louis Boutan created the remote-controlled underwater camera in 1899. J.E. Williamson took the first underwater ocean video; he started his project in 1914. Dr. Harold Edgerton, an engineer from MIT, invented a camera that automatically synchronized its image captures with strobes of light. In 1949, Dimitri Rebikoff created a new kind of underwater flash, a "flash-tube lighting system" (p. 28).
We have turned to agriculture instead of hunting to meet our need for mean; similarly, we must turn to sustainable aquaculture if we wish to meet the needs of both the ocean and the people who want to eat fish.
