Today's soundtrack is Jack White: Boarding House Reach. This afternoon, I'm reading what has turned out to be a very short first chapter of the first book of Aristotle's Ethics. Aristotle says that every pursuit is undertaken with the goal of some good being achieved. Logically, therefore, he says that "'the good' is 'that at which all things aim'" (p. 25). He concludes the chapter by saying that all lesser activities are part of some greater goal, and the greater goal must be considered to motivate the completion of the smaller tasks.
